The Berkshire Beacon
The Berkshire Beacon is a weekly community paper serving the Berkshire Hills in western Massachusetts. Richard Trombly served as its editor-in-chief from February to October 2003. He assigned and edited stories, covered events, and was involved in all phases of production with Quark and Photoshop. He managed editorial staff as well as freelance writers and photographs and reported directly to the publisher.

The Coalition for Authentic Reform in Education (C.A.R.E.) held a Mid-Berkshire meeting at the Pittsfield Unitarian Church on February 29th. Fifteen educators, parents, and concerned citizens met to plan strategies to further their opposition, of the Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System (MCAS) in the local community.
